This is a very large digging tool. The blade is broad and tapers to one end. The T-shaped handle fits into a socket and is strapped to add strength. There is also an inscription on the blade: 'ENGLISH TOOLS LTD.// BULLDOG// MADE IN ENGLAND'. The spade was collected by the donor from a man in the village. It was used for manually digging drainage channels in fields.
