This large hoe has a 'D' shaped blade which has an elongated eye to take a wooden handle which has a narrow rectangular cross section. The handle has been repaired at the eye end where large metal bolts have been used to keep the handle firm in the eye. It is inscribed 'Fussells Mells'. It was used by the donor's father and grandfather in Gloucestershire.
