A pair of foundryman's boots worn at the foundry of Walter Wilder & Sons Ltd. of Crowmarsh Ironworks in Wallingford, Oxfordshire, which closed in october 1992. The boots are believed to date from the 1990s. They are made of leather, with rubber soles, and have a large protective flap which extends over the laces and is secured with a strap and buckle. They have a quick-release device consisting of a plastic pin, which enables the boots to be removed instantly without undoing the laces in the case of an accident.
