An oval-shaped glass thermometer with a metal bulb and paper inside showing degrees Fahrenheit, enclosed in a wooden cylinder. It was used for ascertaining the temperature of milk, and important temperatures such as for cooling, churning, separating and scalding are shown. The oval shape prevents the thermometer from rolling on the floor. The thermometer was made in Germany, and certified and distributed by the Dairy Supply Co. Ltd. of London. It was used by the donor's father, a milk seller in Bangor, County Down, in the 1930s.
