This is a half gallon measure for measuring out quantities of seed. It is made of metal. It was used by Sutton Seeds Ltd. at the trial grounds on London Road in Reading, Berkshire, in the 1920s.

MERL Miscellaneous note (71/132–73/134) – ‘The items were salvaged from the scrap heap by Mr Walton & brought to the Museum. He is a driver for Suttons Seeds Ltd. who are leaving Reading & re-establishing at Torquay. The items were all used at the firm’s trial grounds on the London Road, probably c. 1920s. Mr Walton has no personal connection with them.’
