A graining roller, used for making a wood grain and knot effect on painted wood. It consists of a ridged brass roller and a smooth wooden roller attached to a wooden handle with a brass ferrule. It was manufactured by Hamilton & Co. The roller belonged to the donor's uncle, John Hillier, who was a master painter and decorator in Reading in the 1930s.
