MERL ‘Handwritten catalogue’ form - ‘CURLING TONGS // Personal- Use // 65/297/ 2 // Mrs E. B. Burrow, Reading // 2 pairs of curling tongs, used when heated, made of iron. Both pivoted in middle with rod-like handles (i.e. no ringed finger grips at end). ‘Blade’ of both are of same type, consisting of one solid cylindrical rod which fits into (when closed) the other half round blade. Both c. 27cm in length, although one had slightly larger handles and thus shorter blades than other one. One stamped ‘Foreign’, other stamped ‘Marcei, 10’.’
