MERL 'Catalogue index' card – 'This gouge, used in conjunction with a lathe has a concave blade 1.0 inches in width, and 6 inches in length. Only .9 inches of the stem is visible before it becomes hidden in the wooden handle. A brass ring surrounds the bottom of this handle, which is straight and 9.3 inches in length. // The shank is stamped “Thos. Ibbotson & Co. Cast Steel”. // See also 51/109M.'
