This earthenware cider bottle, also known as a 'Dorset pill', was used for carrying cider out to harvest fields. It was made at Verwood near Wimborne, an old established pottery which closed in the mid-twentieth century. It was used in south Hampshire, and was formerly a part of the collections at the Red House Museum, in Christchurch.
