This toaster, on a trivet stands, was used in front of a hearth for toasting food. The food to be toasted was stuck on the six small spikes. This toaster was used in Surrey.

MERL 'Catalogue index' card – 'This standing toaster made of wrought iron stands 28 inches high. It consists of a round iron bar standing on three legs. A slide held in place by a friction spring moves up and down the bar. Three small toasting forks are attached to the slide and provide six spikes on which objects to be toasted can be impaled.'
