This cast iron ploughshare was found on the donor's land at Apethorpe, Northamptonshire. It is thought to date from the 19th century, and probably came from a craftsman-made plough.

Letter, MERL to Mr Tomkins, 6th November 1956 - 'The share is cast iron and as far as we can see it is not chilled. I should imagine that it came from a craftsman made plough of the nineteenth century.'
