This is a blacksmith's or manufacturer's model plough, used for construction purposes. It shows the mouldboard and part of the beam. It was made by Josiah Ball, a blacksmith in North Kilworth, and is thought to date from before 1876.

Higgs, 21st January 1957 - 'We shall be quite happy for you to keep the model plough, and I will write to the owners to request its transfer - when I hear from them I will let you know. It was made by Josiah Ball, son of Thomas Ball, blacksmith of North Kilworth, at least before 1876, and belongs to the Misses Ball... Leicester.'
