This framed board is mounted with samples of various types of nineteenth century straw plaits made in the Luton area. It was prepared by Luton Museum and Art Gallery for the opening exhibition of the Museum of English Rural Life. Luton and its surrounding districts were at the heart of the straw plaiting industry in Britain.
