This pitchfork head (the haft is missing) was found in a pit associated with a mid-eighteenth century pottery in Albert Embankment, Lambeth, London. According to the donor, pitchforks were commonly used in the area for pitching bricks one at a time up scaffolding, catching one thrown to him on his fork and pitching it to the next person and so on.
