This drawknife, a woodworking tool used for shaping wood, was used by a wheelwright in Writtle, Essex. Drawknives were particularly used for intially shaping the spokes of a wheel. It was also used by the wheelwright's father and grandfather, both of whom had also been wheelwrights in the same village.
