This small paring chisel was used by the donor's father, who was a wheelwright and carpenter in Braishfield, Hampshire. Paring chisels are used for fine paring and trimming on a lathe. The cutting edge on this paring chisel is 0.5 inches wide. The blade is stamped 'J.BEARDSHAW + SON CAST STEEL' and the handle is stamped 'J.TURNER'.
