This is a heavy firmer chisel with a square blade and a socketted handle. The flattened end of the handle shows it was used with a mallet. The blade is marked with the name of the maker, Isaac Greaves. It was used for general woodcutting at R. Middleton & Sons' wheelwrights workshop in Eddington, Hungerford.
