Unframed engraving by Stanley Anderson RA (1884-1966), titled ‘Eventide’. Produced in 1937, the print is an edition of 50. Signed in pencil “Ed 50: Stanley Anderson”. The print shows an elderly woman sewing a shirt with a basket of sewing paraphernalia, including scissors, cotton reels, thread and material on the right and a sewing machine, possibly the from Singer brand, on a table. On the left of the print a man can be seen through a window. He is holding a scythe over his right shoulder. Anderson’s monogram featuring the initials “SA” within a triangle is engraved within the plate.

Purchased at auction from Rosberys, London. Lot number 36 in the Modern & Contemporary Prints, Photography, Multiples & Editions sale held on 21st November 2015. The vendor’s parents are residents of the village of Towersey in Oxfordshire; they purchased the print directly from the artist. The print was purchased with the support of the Art Fund.
