This adze was used in R. Middleton & Sons wheelwrights shop in Eddington, Hungerford, for trimming and shaping surfaces of wood. It is slightly saucered with a basilled edge and a block which projects behind the handle acting as a hammer head. The blade is inscribed with ‘I. G. Hargreaves, Sheffield’ and the number ‘2’.
