This is a block of four unused 2.5 pence George VI ‘Victory’ postage stamps. This stamp was designed by H. L. Palmer, a staff artist of the postage stamp and banknote engraving and printing firm of Harrison & Sons Ltd., on the theme of peace and reconstruction. It was submitted to the King on 29 March 1946 and approved, and was released on 11 June 1946. The stamp is blue with the King’s head in the middle and an outline illustration in white of a tractor, house, power station or factory, and ship in the corners.

There was popular demand for stamps to mark the end of the Second World War and the Post Office decided on a theme of ‘peace and reconstruction’. A design by H. L.
