This is a horse drawn ridging plough from Sussex. It is a wood and iron plough, with a long beam, and has a wooden foot at the front and an iron draw bar for adjusting the angle of pull on the plough. Its mouldboard is made of iron, and bears the inscription 'LINTOTT HORSHAM 8 // DICKENSON + BURNE LTD // GUILDFORD 33'.

MERL 'Handwritten accession' form (Museum of English Rural Life) – 'Horse Drawn Ridging Plough // A wood and iron plough with a long beam. It is painted a dark blue/black. It has a wooden foot at the front and an iron draw bar for adjusting the angle of pull on the plough. It has an iron mouldboard. The plough once had a coulter, a skim coulter and a plough share at the tip of the mouldboard. // Inscription: LINTOTT HORSHAM 8 - on back of mouldboard // DICKENSON + BURNE LTD // GUILDFORD 33 // Note: When this plough was finally returned to MERL on 3/4/2001 the share were missing.
