This ruler, measuring a foot, is made of painted tin and hinged to fold into quarters. It has inches and centimetres marked on one side, and adverts, including the inscription ‘Taddy & Co’s Orbit Brand Tobacco, Myrtle Grove Cigarettes’ and an 1899 calendar on the other. It was originally used in the village shop at Belsey House, Herne, Kent.
