This is a wooden mixing bowl for domestic use. It is made of wych elm and was probably turned on a pole lathe. Lavinia Smith acquired it from Frederick Goody, a baker from the East Hendred area.

MERL 'Catalogue index' card – 'This is a mixing bowl made of turned wych-elm. It was probably turned on a pole lathe, which is a lathe of a very simple type.
