These three miniature basketwork hats were made by Winifred Garrett and Mary Thornton for sale in the Newstead Craftworkers Shop in Grange-over-Sands, Cumbria. Each one is made of No. 1 pulp cane. The first has a raised brim all round the crown and a red satin ribbon. The second has a shallow crown, a brim which extendes at the front and is narrow at the back, and a blue nylon ribbon. The third has a deep crown, a brim which is extended one row only at the front, and a blue nylond ribbon.

This collection of seventeen miniature baskets (70/225–75/230) was made by Winifred Garrett and Mary Thornton for sale in the Newstead Craftworkers Shop in Grange-over-Sands and also for the illustration of their book ‘Canework for the Doll’s House’, Dryad 1970. They were given to Dorothy Wright who donated them to the Museum. The collection consists of two chairs, one sofa, three dolls hats, two dogs basket, a cradle, a work basket and seven miscellaneous shopping and flower baskets, all in miniature.
