It is marked with the name of the manufacturer, 'Moseley & Son // 54–55 Bloomsbury // London', and is also marked with several other names – 'A. Cole', 'W. H. Hawton' and 'G. Baxter'. The plane is part of a set of cabinet maker's tools, many of which are marked 'W. Newton', suggesting this may have been the name of the cabinet maker from whom the donor acquired the set.
