A moulding plane with a wooden stock and steel blade, used to create a decorative profile in wood. This moulding plane has a multi-part moulding edge. It is marked with the name of the manufacturer, 'Deeley', and with '1/8'. It is also marked 'W. Newton' four times and 'E. Claxton' two times. The plane is part of a set of cabinet maker's tools, many of which are marked 'W. Newton', suggesting this may have been the name of the cabinet maker from whom the donor acquired the set.
