A moulding plane with a wooden stock and steel blade, used to create a decorative profile in wood. This moulding plane has a convex moulding edge. It is marked with the name of the manufacturer, 'Moseley & Son // London', and '8', and is also marked 'W. Newton' three times, and 'E. Claxton'. The plane is part of a set of cabinet maker's tools, many of which are marked 'W. Newton', suggesting this may have been the name of the cabinet maker from whom the donor acquired the set.
