[nb-NO]Description[nb-NO]
A sanding block for smoothing wood, marked 'Edwards & Roberts' in two places and 'W. Newton' in two places. Edwards & Roberts was a large firm of cabinet makers based in Wardour Street, London, which was established in 1845 and closed in 1899. The sanding block is part of a set of cabinet maker's tools, many of which are marked 'W. Newton', suggesting this may have been the name of the cabinet maker from whom the donor acquired the set.
