This is a milk jug used for storing milk for sale. Is made of china and shows a churn as described in the Dairy Supply Catalogue 1905 had a lid and were used to show milk in shop windows.

MERL ‘History Artefacts’ card - ‘ JAR // MARKETING DAIRY PRODUCE MILK // Inscription- PURE COUNTRY MILK // Rev. Sharp // Description: A conical white glazed jar which tapers to the neck and widens out again to form a rim. It had decorative handles on each side (one missing). A picture of a dairy maid milking a cow is pointed in with side in brown. The words ‘Pure Country Milk’ are written around each picture.[maybe lid missing]. Use: For storing milk for sale.
