  • Richard Beale (1771-1836) was the son of Seaman Cooke Beale, a wharfinger of London. He was the nephew of Seaman Cooke's brother, Richard Beale (1744-1814) of River Hall farm. He inherited the River Hall estate from his uncle. He had a large family some of whose descendants continued to live in Biddenden until 1969. He continued his uncle's tradition of keeping annual records of the affairs of the farm.
