Massingham Collection // NUMBER: 51/162M // DESCRIPTION: Nothing is known of the origin of this ratchet hanger. // It consists of a tubular upright 21 inches in length, hooked at one end. At the other end, there is a knob from which the loop, which hangs on the ratchet is suspended. The loop is ornamental with a curl. // The ratchet is 13.25 inches long and 1.15 inches wide. It has seven teeth. The ratchet and upright are joined by a ring attached to the top inside corner of the ratchet. It is made of wrought iron. // See also 52/341.’
