MERL 'Catalogue index' card – 'This large sized pitchfork was used for collecting up brushwood and refuse after a hedge had been laid. // It has two tines, square in profile, and 15 inches long. The tines are 9 inches apart at the tip and for 11 inches of their length the tines are parallel, before they suddenly narrow to their junction. The tanged point is barbed, each of its four corners having three barbs. The point is 5.3 inches long. // The origin of the fork is unknown.', No Lavinia Smith No. recorded.
