This wooden roller, made of sycamore, is a pastry stamp. It is carved with a design and used to decorate the edge of pastry. Lavinia Smith acquired it from George Dixon of Abingdon, Oxfordshire (formerly in Berkshire).

MERL 'Catalogue index' card – 'This is a wooden roller carved with a design which was used to decorate the edge of pastry. It has a deep groove in the roller between the two parts of the design. The roller runs on a small wooden handle.
