This is a cream jar from the Wigtownshire Creamery, Stranraer, Scotland. The jar is made of stoneware and inscribed 'Rich preserved cream from the Wigtownshire creamery Stranraer. This cream contains a small portion of Burton preservative to preserve its sweetness. Sterilized cream is recommended for invalids and children instead of preserved cream'. Frederick Lurking, the donor, fished this jar out of the sea off the shore of Arran in 1944.

Sterilised cream is recommended for invalids and children instead of preserved'. A stamp near the base reads 'Caledonian ..?... 17'. Also on the side is a picture of a dairymaid.
