Descrizione
A candle box was a common feature in households during the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. This is a cylindrical, stone-coloured box with two handles by which it could be hung on the wall. It was used to store tallow candles to keep them away from mice which, according to the donor, were very fond of tallow. The candle box was used by the donor's mother and then by the donor at Okehampton, Devon.
