MERL 'Catalogue index' card – 'This trap was made by a local blacksmith for use on the Stonehurst Estate near Henley. The trap consists of a flat bar which forms a base, 10 1/2 inches long and 1/2 inch wide, to which serrated jaws are fixed. These jaws are 3 1/2 inches long and 1 1/2 inches deep. A strip of metal riveted to the flat bar acts as a spring. The trap has a platform 2 inches square on to which the rabbit stepped before capture. A length of chain is attached to the opposite end of the trap by means of which the trap could be anchored to prevent the rabbit dragging the trap about.'
