Descrizione
This dressing horse, sometimes known as a 'fetter', was used for dressing the half dried tile. After moulding the tiles were stacked for drying by the elements for three weeks or so, but before they were put in a kiln they were dressed on a horse of this kind to correct any warping that may have taken place during drying. A slab of sanded clay is thrown on the dresser and as in brickmoulding superfluous clay is struck off with a wire bow. This dressing horse is marked 'I.B.B.S'.
