Description
This is a wheelwright’s pattern used to make the felloes (rim sections) of a wheel, and showing the exact curve needed. This pattern is made of wood and painted red on one side. It is marked at regular intervals around the outer edge of the curve, and inscribed with the words ‘Mr W Lock Cirencester // 1 Doz Cart Felloes To This Pattern x 3 1/2" Wide // From W Field Winson’. The pattern came from the workshop of Mr W. W. Field, a wheelwright in Winson, Gloucestershire. Mr Field retired circa 1960 and the business closed.
