Description
Trade tokens were often issued in the late eighteenth century by merchants. They were used to trade during times of coin shortages but also for advertising purposes. This token was issued in 1794 in Ipswich by Conder's, and features an image of the Ipswich cross monument and the words 'IPSWICH CROSS' on one side, and the words 'PAYABLE // AT // CONDER'S // DRAPERY // WAREHOUSE // IPSWICH' on the other side.
