- DescriptionThis is a later type of hop sampler than the three-pronged type. It was used by merchants to extract a sample from a hop pocket, to decide on the quality of a particular crop. It consists of two flat iron plates, which are pressed together to obtain a sample. The spring of the handle is adjusted by means of a screw. It was previously part of the collections at the Curtis Museum, in Alton.
