W. Jardine to MERL, 28 April 2003 - 'My father was the manager of the Wilts United Dairy at Cilcewdd [sic], Welshpool until he resigned in 1925 when the dairy closed. Prior to that he had been assistant manager of the Uttoxeter dairy. // When he died in 1982 aged 95 I found the enclosed ruler amongst his things and it has occurred to me that you might like to add it to your artifacts. // Fullwood and Bland who used to supply Wilts United with ingredients may still be in existence. I saw one of their vans on a motorway a few years ago and afterwards sent them a similar ruler for their artifacts collection.'
