Description
Butter pats, also known as 'butter beaters' and 'Scotch hands', were used for working butter into blocks while removing the buttermilk. These large butter pats have central handles, rather than at the ends, and are made of sycamore, a close-grained wood often used for dairy equipment, where scrubbing and cleaing is important.
