This is a hot water bottle, also known as a foot warmer. It is a ceramic container that is filled with hot water and place in bed to warm it. It was made by Doulton of Lambeth, London.

1 hot water bottle: cream stoneware; good conditionDetails of inscriptions: [on both sides] 'Doulton's improved foot warmer' contained in scroll banner with 'Lambeth, London' beneath. [On top at knob end] 'This bottle should be warmed before use'. Surrounding screw cap is linear design incorporating star and leaf-like pattern.
