Description
This lathe tool, made by Marples, has a slightly convex blade. It was used for turning mouldings in wood; generally for turning wood that was close to a square shoulder. It is known as a quarter round lathe tool, and was used by the donor's father, who was a wheelwright and carpenter in Braishfield, Hampshire. It is inscribed 'H. MARPLE + SON CAST STEEL'.
