Description
This paring knife is a tool used for trimming eaves after a roof had been thatched. It seems to have been specially manufacturered, rather than the usual method whereby half of a scythe blade is used. It has a turned wooden handle and a brass ferrule between the handle and the blade. Nothing is known of its origin, other than that it was previously part of the collections at the Curtis Museum, in Alton.
