Description
This hay was found in a wall in a house in Billericay, Essex, when it was being demolished. The wall was built in about 1800, and the hay had been stuffed into the wall as insulation. The hay was tested to see what species it contained, and the results indicated that the hay was taken from 'poor meadow land'.
