This is a metal 'G' clamp, also called a 'cramp', with a screw which is turned by means of a lever handle. It was used by the donor's father, who was a wheelwright and carpenter in Braishfield, Hampshire. Clamps such as this one are used for holding and assembling items together in woodwork
