Description
This is one of 10 duplicate 'bronze' medals awarded to Ransomes, Sims and Jefferies between 1839 and 1889, and came from the company's Cape Town branch when the branch was closed. At the time of accession, the original medals were still in the possession of Ransomes. This medal shows on the one side a man with six women around him and a lion on the bottom and on the the other side there is a wreathe with an inscription in it '1862 LONDINI// HONORIS CAUSA'; this one-sided duplicate shows the man and the six women. The original dated from the international Agricultural Exhibition (London) in 1862.
