Huntingdonshire plough,
Description
This Huntingdonshire style plough has a wooden mouldboard, a disc coulter and a Ransomes share. It was used on a farm in Leighton Bromswold. It was last in regular use in the early 1930s, and was once used later behind a TD9 to draw a hole for a cable.

<DIV STYLE="text-align:Justify;font-family:Georgia;font-style:normal;font-weight:normal;font-size:16;color:#000000;"><P><SPAN><SPAN>6. <B>Huntingdon Plough, nineteenth century</B><P> This plough has a wooden beam and handles, and a wooden mouldboard, sheathed to the front and below with iron. It is also fitted with a disc or revolving coulter for making the vertical cut through the soil. It was more common in the nineteenth century to use a knife coulter. At the front of the beam, the plough is fitted with an iron foot. This could be raised or lowered to adjust the depth of ploughing but, unlike wheels, could not be clogged by mud.<P> 53/54</SPAN></SPAN></P></DIV>
