Description
Distaffs are tools used in spinning for holding unspun fibres to prevent them becoming tangled. They were traditionally used as an attachment to a spinning wheel. This pair of distaffs is of unknown origin. They are fixed together by means of a piece of string tied through holes in their rounded tips.
